After a 6 months hiatus from any high profile public appearances since December 2017, LeBLANC was honoured with an achievement, that not only they hold close to their hearts, but also something that the company had always valued and practice within the organisation itself. Making it more like a personal achievement rather than an industrial recognition.
Launched and officiated by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Y.A.B Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Binti Wan Ismail, who is also the Women, Family and Community Development Minister, the award ceremony saw a number of high established companies being honoured for their work and contribution to the society. Themed “Beyond Profits, Making Our World A Better Place”, the ceremony was created to acknowledge and appreciate outstanding Malaysian corporations for their tremendous effort in the socio-economic transformation of the country.
Known for its charitable activities and contributions, this milestone marks a new height for LeBLANC at a different scale where its achievements are not solely centred within the professional realm, but also the works and initiatives carried out in contributing towards a better community and society. Having to be involved in many community based activities in the past, with some being high profile ventures, LeBLANC and its partners have contributed and donated nearly RM800,000 to a handful of successful CSR activities and events from the likes of cancer awareness campaigns, orphanage visits and donations, national sports growth, as well as various charitable events catered to those in need.
This milestone marks a new height for LeBLANC at a different scale where its achievements are not solely centred within the professional realm, but also the works and initiatives carried out in contributing towards a better community and society.
After a successful year last year, LeBLANC has initiate a more scaled down and personalised CSR activities in 2018 to bring changes to its local community through providing assistance and contributions to schools, while spreading awareness on safety and environmental to children. Believing in educating and exposing children to the importance of safety and environment at a young age, LeBLANC aims to help develop and create responsible future leaders.
During the launch of the award ceremony, Dr. Wan Azizah called out the roles of corporations in bringing changes to the new Malaysia. She mentioned that business leaders have the responsibilities to do more in guiding their moral compass, and others, through personal actions and business endeavours with the objective in creating leaders who lead with conscience.
Speaking to The Star and Bernama, LeBLANC’s award recipient Mr. Chandra Abdullah expressed his excitement and joy in receiving the award. Mentioning that it was an honour to be receiving such recognition among some of the big names in the business industry, Mr. Chandra was thrilled that the efforts carried out by organisations are being addressed and appreciated by those in the CSR field, in which will encourage more organisations to follow in the footsteps of this year’s award winners. He also said that although it is great to be recognised for the CSR initiatives carried out, but it was never the main reason behind all the activities. Mentioning that it had always been LeBLANC’s culture to give back to society, and winning the award was a “cherry on top” over a great cause.
34 Malaysian companies from various field and expertise were acknowledged and recognised during the award ceremony. Among those receiving the honour with LeBLANC were, Star Media Group, Berjaya Starbucks, AirAsia, Shell, Tesco and one of LeBLANC’s former charity partner, McDonald’s Malaysia.
